The land for Loma Alta Park, at the corner of Lincoln Avenue and West Loma Alta Drive, came from the donation of a local family in 1954, and it began mainly as a picnic area for the local community. Today the facilities are much more developed. The park's 13,500 square-foot gym was dedicated in 2003, and in 2008 a new play area with ADA access was completed. The pool was also recently renovated. The park has two lighted basketball courts and a community building with a kitchen and computer lab.

Farnsworth Park hosts a community center, outdoor amphitheater, picnic areas and various recreational facilities, as well as annual holidays events and summer evening concerts. The space for the park was set aside in 1921 and the stone community building was completed in 1934 as part of a depression-era public works project.  The design of the building shows the influence of the naturalistic trend of the California arts and crafts period and the handmade, careful construction of local artisans.

It is located on the steep hill at the top of Lake Avenue, and the park is spread across the hill, with the community center and amphitheater up top and the sports fields and tennis courts lower down. The park is named for General Charles S. Farnsworth, a local resident who pushed for the area to be used as a park.  It originally served as a nursery for trees and vegetation.
