Fairhaven Bible Chapel is located on MacArthur Boulevard, near the San Leandro/Oakland border. Sunday services start at 9:30 a.m. Roger Rayhbuck serves as Chairman of the Elders.
Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline is a beautiful park area located on Neptune Drive in San Leandro. A wide variety of wildlife can be seen at the park, which was made from a former landfill closed in the 1980s. Some animals that can be seen include Marsh hawks, black-shouldered kites, red-tailed hawks, butterflies and shorebirds. Entrance is free, while the park offers beautiful views of the Bay. The area also has seven group picnic areas and multipurpose trails as well.
The Marina Community Center operates the City of San Leandro's senior services, although most of these programs will be moved to the new senior center when it opens in 2011. It offers classes in Tai Chi, the tango, driver safety, ceramics and much more. The Department of Recreation and Human Services publishes an activities guide, which can be viewed on the city's website or picked up at the community center.
The Marina Community Center auditorium is also used for Town Hall meetings and other public events. Along with a variety of other rooms, it is available for rent.
Romanian Baptist Church is located on Bancroft near Bayfair Mall. Services are Fridays and Sundays. Romanian is spoken in all services.
California Police Activities League provides sports and educational activities for youth. The San Leandro office serves as the organization's main office. It has chapters across the state from Yreka and South Lake Tahoe to Calexico. The organization was started in the 1970s by San Francisco police detective Charles Ellis.
This location is the headquarters of Boy Scouts of America. The headquarters is in charge of creating a program for Cub and Boy Scouts, finding new schools to get groups started, and handling the customer service of Boy Scouts headquarters. Court-appointed Special Advocates Program of Alameda County consists of volunteers who are appointed by juvenile court judges to speak on behalf of abused, neglected and abandoned children in the court system. CASA also helps to find them safe housing.
Cherry Grove Park is located on Leonard Avenue right across from the 880 Freeway. It has two play structures, barbecues, benches and an open field. The park is the result of a collaboration between the City of San Leandro and San Leandro Unified School District.
Ashland Community Center Park is located on 167th street in unincorporated San Leandro. It has barbecue areas and benches, but no play structure. There is an Alameda County Sheriff's Department Community Policing facility on site within the community center.
The Assumption Church is a Catholic church that is open each Sunday for services. This church is located in a residential neighborhood, with a school attached for those parents who would like their children to go to a private Catholic school.
Deaf Community Center is home to the Deaf Counseling, Advocacy & Referral Agency. It is a deaf run organization offering services focusing on the deaf community. The facility is also available for rent for private events
