Blood Bank of Hawaii, established in 1941, is a nonprofit regional blood center. The Blood Bank of Hawaii is a founding member of Americas Blood Centers. The Blood Bank of Hawaii is also a founding member of the American Association of Blood Banks. The blood bank offers a 24-hour a day inventory of all groups of bloods. It is a community organization offering a variety of services, such as collection, processing, storing and distributing blood and blood components for transfusion. The Blood Bank of Hawaiis team conducts blood drives and provides a supply of unusual blood types. Its health care community includes a four-year medical school. It provides specialized facilities, such as a neonatal intensive care unit. The center performs technological bone marrow and organ transplants and heart surgeries.
