Meals on Wheels is located inside the Ellis Nursing Center and provides over 8,000 meals a year to disabled and seniors. It is a non-profit organization and relies on donations and fundraisers as well as more than 20 volunteers who work hard every day to prepare and deliver the meals. The Norwood Historical Society is a volunteer-run organization located in the F. Holland Day House. It works to collect and preserve memorabilia, photographs and artifacts relative to the history of Norwood,  dating back to the 1870s. Along with historical information of the town and government, genealogical records can be found in the collection. The Norwood Historical Society also organizes educational programs and special events.

Since 1921, this organization has provided camaraderie and recreational opportunities to hunters and fishermen. Current membership includes some 75 enthusiasts. The organization's building adjoins a small pond held by the town Conservation Commission, which is open to the public for fishing and bird watching. The club contains a small pistol range in its basement. The group is active in conservation efforts throughout the town.

First Baptist Church is located at 468 Walpole Street near downtown Norwood and welcomes the public to its open parish. The historic church was built in 1859 as the South Dedham Baptist Society and changed its name at that time. Mass and Sunday school are available every Sunday at 10:30am.

Morrill Memorial Library is a large public library located on Walpole Street on the edge of downtown Norwood. It was built in 1790 with granite quarried from Barry, Mass. and its renovation in 1910 was made with the same granite. The library offers traditional services, such as library cards and research materials, as well as more modern services like Internet access and meeting rooms.

The St. Catherine of Siena parish in downtown Norwood is an active, welcoming Catholic church located on Washington Street. It has many activities throughout the week, including multiple masses on the weekend as well as daily and nightly masses on weekdays. This church in the heart of South Norwood traces its roots to Syrian immigrants who arrived in South Norwood in the early twentieth century. One of the primary tasks of these settlers was to establish an Orthodox church, the faith of their homeland.
