The Light of Christ Church International, near the historic St. Helena's neighborhood, is a non-denominational church. The diverse congregation works to reach out to those in need in the local community.
Battle Grove Democratic Club was started in 1933 and is one of the most active political groups in Maryland. It has more than 750 members currently. It is a private club, and in order to gain entry to the building, you must swipe your club card. Otherwise, if you are not a member, there is a buzzer you can ring to talk to someone.
Originally named Watersedge Chapel, the church was founded in 1943. Current Watersedge Baptist Church pastor David Erickson was ordained in 1980. The church also hosts the Little Light Christian Child Care Center as well as an annual vacation Bible school. The church's community outreach programs include a hospital ministry and health program.
The Baltimore County Police Community Relations Council is an association focused on improving the relationship between the local community and police precinct No. 12. This council is based in Dundalk. Monthly meetings are held to address community issues having to do with the police precinct. Council members include business people, community leaders and residents of the area. Residents are encouraged to bring local issues to the council and the police precinct. The Dundalk satellite office of Baltimore County Social Services is located in the rear of the Merritt North shopping center off of Merritt Boulevard. The office deals with emergencies, food and energy assistance, food stamps, medical assistance, daycare subsidy and temporary disability assistance.
The Galilee Baptist Church is led by pastor Douglas F. Wilson. The church offers a variety of ministries, including drama and dance, serving both the congregation and the community.
St. Rita's Church, a member of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, was established in 1922. St. Rita's convent is located next door. The parish staff is led by Deacon John Langmead, pastoral life director, and Deacon George Evans, a permanent deacon. Michelle Ruse serves as parish secretary. The church programs include outreach to the homeless and hungry. St. Rita's hosts bingo every Tuesday and Saturday night.
The Calvary Baptist Church has been led by pastor Carmen Giovanelli since 2003. The church's programs include instrumental music and choir, children, teen and adult Sunday School classes, as well as mission work performed locally and around the world.
The St. Matthews United Methodist Church, located in Turners Station, is celebrating 110 years of service to the community in the fall of 2010. The congregation is led by Reverend Dred Scott.
The Rev. Jansen String leads a congregation whose roots reach back to 1888, when St. Matthew's Church began in Sparrows Point. In 1929, St. George's Church in Dundalk was built. The congregation of St. George's and St. Matthew's came together in 1973 after St. Matthew's closed. The family parish holds Sunday coffee hours and runs Right Turn of Maryland and other community programs.
The Knights of Columbus Council 2942 is associated with the Baltimore Chapter of Grand Knights. Chapter meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 8 p.m. The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal service organization. The Knights of Columbus hall is available for rent for local events.
Established in 1957, Eastern Assembly of God congregation first started meeting in a storefront location on North Point Boulevard. In 1961, the congregation first built a church on Wise Ave. and the current santuary was created in 1987. Today, the congregation is led by Rev. Edward Michael. The church has sent members to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe and the Philippines in recent years.
The Sonshine Fellowship Church is an independent, nondenominational church. Founded in 2007, the church formally received its nonprofit status from the state of Maryland and held its first official service in the spring of 2008.
Ateaze Senior Center contains an art gallery, fitness center, travel center and provides classes, events and senior aid programs. Membership is open to residents of Baltimore County, aged 60 and over.
Fleming Community Center is linked to the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks and Baltimore County Department of Aging office building. The community center is host to a children's play area and is surrounded by pleasant green open space in the rear.
As a nonprofit organization, the Dundalk Renaissance Corporation is a member organization geared toward revitalizing the historic and greater Dundalk community. Located in the Dundalk Village Center, the Dundalk Renaissance Corporation works on town center planning, housing and green issues and encourages community involvement.
