Starting as the Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Free Church of Rockland County in 1963, this organization met as a mission group upstairs in the Nanuet Ambulance Hall. After a few changes in venue, the church found its home at its present location in Nanuet and held its first church service at its new permanent home 1964 Christmas day as the Norwegian Church. Later the need to evolve from a mission group to an official congregation led the church to find a pastor and elect boards.  As the years passed, the Sunday School grew from 15 to 200. The church got its present name officially in 1973 after the elder board recommended that they switch from a Norwegian and English church to an English-language church.
