Roberts Memorial was initially named Davis Chapel after its pastor, the Rev. Charles A. Davis. Following the Civil War, its name was changed to honor the deceased Bishop Robert Richford Roberts. Roberts Memorial was one of only two African American churches in Alexandria between 1834 and 1846 and attracted worshipers from across the city and even Maryland. The chapel was considered a safe place for both free blacks and slaves and provided a place for education and fellowship. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Rose Hill Baptist Church's family-friendly congregation focuses on missions, supporting both foreign and domestic missionaries. The church also delivers the Blessed Hope Broadcast, a local radio program on WFAX 1220 AM. Russell Temple CME Church. Russell Temple says it's the only CME church located in northern Virginia. It offers Sunday school classes for all ages, the women's ministry, children's ministry, youth and senior programs.

Its purpose is to help match families with children and to provide medical and other types of services to children in orphanages who can't be adopted.
