Established in 1978, Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility operates water treatment plant. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, its entire property covers 168 acres of land. The treatment facility itself is 85 acres of land. Its operation includes designing and building to treat 75 million gallons of wastewater each day. Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility serves more than 500,000 people in the Salt Lake County area. A state-of-the-art facility treats the waste using a biological process called the trickling filter/solids contact process. Additionally, it is on of the few Utah facilities to use a digester gas/natural gas mixture to generate 70% of its electricity needs.
