Besser manufactures concrete block forming machines and equipment. The company designs and manufactures equipment for the aggregate, block, cement, landscape and hardscape, pipe, pre-cast, pre-stressed and ready-mix segments of the concrete industry. Besser began in the logging industry in 1897 and manufactured shingles and barrel staves. With the decline of the logging industry, Besser expanded into cement manufacturing. With the production of the first hand-tamp block machine, Besser made it possible to manufacture concrete blocks from cement. Since then, Besser has been manufacturing equipment, molds and parts to be used in the cement industry. Besser has nearly 10 manufacturing locations and maintains headquarters in Sioux City, Iowa.
