The original line of transformers was produced and sold for many years by an old line manufacturer based in Trenton, N.J. By 1980, senior executive and magnetics expert John P. Lamson, a B.S.E.E. graduate of Lehigh University, made a buy-out deal with the retiring CEO. To this day, our founder still serves as a technical consultant to the company. The replacement transformer business was spun off with Mr. Lamson as 100% owner of an independent entity. He quickly contacted key prospects, purchased equipment, and rented a rural plant building. Within months, a corporation dedicated to the custom magnetics field was underway in Rosemont, N.J. A lot has happened since that time. Tom Gadecki joined the founder as the first employee. An integral part of the service team to this day, Tom now heads our testing department. The company quickly began to broaden and refine its mission.A skilled team was hired and trained. The plant was expanded. A keen work ethic set the company apart from the start. Within five years, son Jonathan C. Lamson took over as President. He continued to build on a solid reputation for quality and service. As time passed, new horizons began to unfold under his leadership. He saw the emergence of a global market as an opportunity not a setback. With that in mind, Contract Manufacturing played an increasingly important role. Customers found that our unique capabilities were ideally suited for outsourcing. It wasnt the usual approach, but a relationship based model where Magnetics & Controls, Inc acted as an extension of the customers organization. Jonathan has maintained personal responsibility for our largest accounts over a period of many years. By 1990, Jim Chookagian came aboard to participate in a rigorous technical training program. He was filled with energy and ideas that we are still implementing today. It wasnt long before he was a key member of management. Today, Jim serves as the current company President and maintains a hectic pace dealing with an impressive array of customers ; solving technical problems, and expanding the companys full range of services. The technical side of the business became a service in itself, with emphasis on Reverse Engineering. The Magnetics Lab was expanded to help analyze the toughest problems. By 1995, Electrical Engineering Associate Deborah Sherwood joined the team. Today, she serves as Senior Design Engineer / Quality Manager ; and she spearheads the drive to further refine and automate plant operations. During the late nineties, hard charging Fernando Villegas began his effort to learn every operations function and work station. Now, as plant foreman and "floor leader extraordinaire" he assures on time delivery of products on a day-to-day basis. Most of our plant technicians have been with the company for longer periods of time as well. From our humble beginnings in 1980 until present, we have never lost focus on our mission. We continue to refine and improve our manufacturing processes by not only investing in the latest technology, but also investing in our most valuable asset, our employees.
