The Emergency Management Division is a part of the Emergency Services Department, which operates under the government of Lenoir County, N.C. The government also operates health, finance, economic development, social services and transportation departments. The Emergency Management Division is responsible for preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation efforts for disasters. The division provides safety training for citizens, businesses, industries, day care centers and group homes. Located in Kinston, N.C., the Emergency Services Department operates the Fire Marshal Division, which is responsible for fire inspections and investigations. The fire division serves as a liaison for volunteer fire departments in Lenoir County. In addition, this division plans, reviews and issues fire permits.
