The Utilities Department of Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government operates through electric generation, electric distribution, gas distribution, solid waste and sewer divisions. It operates an animal control program that deals in catching stray and lost animals. The department s animal shelter houses unwanted pets, runs an adoption program and assists the public with animal related problems. Its division of pollution control employs a staff of more than 40 personnel to manage, operate and maintain wastewater utilities. The department s collection division is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair and replacement of sewer collection and transport lines, pumping stations and holding basins. Its treatment division specializes in maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities.
