The Art Station - Big Shanty is teaching arts center located at the entrance to Big Shanty Park in Kennesaw. Art classes for children and adults are available during the fall, winter and spring. Summer includes an assortment of innovative art camps. The Art Station features two multimedia art rooms along with a pottery studio, a conference room and gallery space. Cobb County Airport/McCollum Field is now a major general aviation airport conveniently located off Highway 41 in Kennesaw. It is also a reliever airport for Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta. It is now the longest general aviation runway in the metro Atlanta area (6,305' long) and is being reconstructed with concrete.
New high-intensity lights and a full-ILS assists pilots in locating the runway in inclement weather conditions. There are two full-service fixed-base operators, a control tower and 350 aircraft based at the airport. Rental cars are available, as well as, aircraft maintenance.
