The Kennebec County Correctional Facility is a 151-bed detention center that works under the Kennebec County Sheriffs Office, which was established in 1799. The sheriffs office is a full-service law enforcement agency preserves peace and safety and safeguards citizens rights. It supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, gang activities and violent behavior.
