The Division of Emergency Management Services is committed to effective actions to prevent disasters and to reduce the impact of disasters that cannot be controlled.
In the event of a natural or man-made disaster that affects Northampton County residents and visitors, Northampton County Emergency Management Services coordinates relief efforts, trains and deploys emergency responders, advocates for community efforts and informs the public.
Gracedale is Northampton County's nursing home and is located on 365 acres of land.
On-site clinics are held five days a week and are conducted by physicians from local hospitals. Clinics include surgical, ophthalmology, dental, psychiatry, orthopedic, podiatry, pacemaker, rheumatology and urology. Hospice services, respite care, psychiatric social workers and specialized dementia units with expanded activity programs are additional services provided for residents.
On-site, residents can enjoy pet therapy, outdoor picnics, cooking groups, wood working, bingo, cards and games, movies, closed circuit television and various entertainment programs.
In addition, residents can take trips outside of the facility to attend sporting events and community festivals, to visit museums and theaters and to eat out at various restaurants.
Northampton County Housing Authority is a locally operated housing complex offering rental units to low-income families, elderly individuals of low to moderate income, and the disabled. The complex, which is located on the corner of Wood and Center streets, has ramps, automatic entrances and elevators, which makes access for individuals with disabilities easy. This housing complex falls into the Section 8 program enacted by the federal government in 1975.
