The Commonwealth of Virginia Public Defender's Office is located on 14th Street, a few blocks from the Court House metro station. This office provides legal advice and representation to those who can't afford it in criminal matters. All attorneys are court-appointed and must be certified by the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission. Once an attorney has been certified, he or she is added to a rotating list.

The Arlington County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court consists of an adult unit, an intake unit, a mediation program and a juvenile unit. The purpose of this court is to deal with legal matters relating to families, children and young adults. Each unit has a different specialty, and the court deals with a wide variety of legal issues.
