The Basement Dance Center is located below the AMP Rehearsal space and has limited signage, so first-time visitors would do well to look for the AMP signs and ask to be pointed in the right direction. Twenty-four-hour studio rentals are available here, for everything from rehearsal and audition space to private events and kids' parties. It's a favorite spot for professional dance and TV/film industry use. Adult and youth dance classes are offered as well.
Art of the Dance Academy operates out of North Hollywood's Madilyn Clark Studios. It's a children's dance academy for young dancers from 3 to 18 years old. Art of the Dance's trained instructors teach ballet, jazz, tap, modern and hip-hop dancing at all levels. Group sessions and one-on-one lessons are available. Call for details and class schedule.
A popular neighborhood happy hour gets the party started at Club Cobra. When they're not dancing on the large floor, patrons at this club and lounge watch television on a number of big screens scattered throughout the bar. Pool and darts are other entertainment options, but Club Cobra really packs them in for its notorious Saturday night drag show. The covered, fenced and very private front patio provides an alternative to the party inside.
