Forest Grove / Oregon / United States
Founded in 1977, Yamhill Log Scaling & Grading Bureau is an Oregon nonprofit organization that provides log scaling services and reporting services to its members in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana. The organization is controlled by a board of directors who represent all sectors of the logging industry. It consists of 11 board members and representatives from the United States Forest Service, the Department of Natural Resources and the Oregon Department of Forestry. Yamhill Log Scaling is a member of the Northwest Log Rules Advisory Group, which works to promote uniformity in scaling rules throughout the industry and create an industry-wide rulebook. Yamhill log scalers equally represent the buyer and seller in the application of this rulebook. In addition to log scaling, members provide log taping and sorting, quality control, defect coding, log tagging and inventory control.
