The Parents and Friends Specialized Living Center, located Swansea, Ill., is a nonprofit organization and has been providing health care services since 1979. It is a licensed 80-bed intermediate care facility for the developmentally impaired adult that provides training and supervision in a home-like environment. The center is certified by the state of Illinois and Illinois Department of Public Health. It provides various support services that include speech and hearing; physical, occupational and activity therapies; social services; case coordination; and behavior management programs. The center is affiliated with local hospitals for necessary hospitalizations, emergency treatment, diagnostic services and other hospital-based services. It also offers a workshop program that provides job training and placement, vocational evaluations and work-related activities.
