Envisioned as a modern cathedral, the 310,000-square-foot Calvary Church features a 5,000-seat sanctuary, a 350-seat chapel, 80 classrooms, two commercial kitchens, a bookstore and the 14th largest pipe organ in the world. Situated on 95 acres, the church is known for its innovative design, with the exterior designed in the shape of a giant crown. The Calvary Church in Charlotte, N.C., has more than 3,000 people in its congregation. It is a non-denominational church with no formal affiliations, but it does have evangelical influences. The church s current building, which is its fifth facility, was completed in 1989. Calvary Church was established in 1939.
