At The Montessori School of New York International, we offer programs for students from two to 14 years of age. As an authentic Montessori school, our curriculum and programs are designed to build a strong foundation in academics, as well as social, emotional, physical and moral development. Our Montessori and state certified teachers receive continuing education and participate in ongoing training throughout the year. The classrooms are fully equipped with age-appropriate Montessori materials designed to stimulate the child’s natural curiosity to explore the world around them. Our outdoor area is spacious with an engaging playground. Children can organize their own free play, get together and use the half basketball court, or participate in other organized sporting activities. Our mission is to create a “Children’s House” where children learn joyfully through various methods, though mainly Montessori, under the guidance of a nurturing, professional and experienced staff.

Dr. Kathy Roemer, Executive Director, joined Twin Parks Montessori Schools in August 2004, with 21 years experience as a Montessori teacher, director, consultant, and past President of the AMS board of Directors (AMS). She was a charter member of the AMS School Accreditation Commission, and chaired the Commission for four years. Dr. Roemer earned a Doctorate in education from the University of Memphis; a Masters degree in Montessori education from Christian Brothers University in Memphis and a Bachelors degree in anthropology from Temple University in Philadelphia. She is certified as an early childhood director and holds a certificate for advanced professional education from AMS. From 1995 to 2004, Dr. Roemer held the position of Head of School at Lamplighter Montessori School in Memphis, Tennessee. She has written articles that are published in Montessori Life, the journal of the American Montessori Society.

In the summer of 1999, Valentina Van Hise met Mari Linnman, the founder of The Art Farm in the Hamptons, when she came to work there as a toddler music teacher. Valentina brought with her a bachelors degree in music education and her unique talents as a music teacher. In 2002, Mari and Valentina decided to open The Art Farm in The City, on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. For the past 16 years, Valentina has been the director and works along with Mari to create innovative new programs. Initially The Art Farm in The City began offering Mommy & Me classes and birthday parties and has now expanded to a pre-school, gentle separation Play Group, summer camp, after school classes and drop in Play Time and Open House for children ages 6 months to 8 years. Mari and Valentina are proud mothers and enjoy working in a child-friendly environment.
