Randalls Farm was founded over 45 years ago by Elsie & Bill Randall. Starting as a roadside seasonal egg farm & fruit stand, it grew to a flourishing Produce and Greenhouse business. In 1962, with the help of Bills father, John B. Randall, Sr., local politician and entrepreneur, they built the first Retail Farm Stand which has only recently become Elsies Creamery. This building housed the entire operation which revolved around fresh local fruit and produce, eggs & fresh chicken. Much of this was grown right here on the farm. The store continued to expand with the help of various family and extended family members as well as a large number of community employees. The store became a year-round produce venue and a convenient stop for bread, eggs, and everything local. A Beer and Wine store (Center Package Store) and a large Retail Greenhouse were added as well as fruit baskets, and a variety of groceries. Local produce, especially "Our Own", was always the lifeblood of the business. Throughout the 70s and 80s, strawberries and tomatoes were the featured crops. Over 40 acres of land were farmed, growing a wide variety of vegetables, strawberries, and raspberries. More milestones followed when eventually, their oldest daughter, Karen, joined Bill and Elsie for what was planned to be one summer. That summer turned into many, many more and Karen eventually bought the business in 1987. This evolved into a new era and in the summer of 1997, Karen opened the present expanded facility at the same location, in Ludlow. The 20, 000 square foot post and beam Produce Store and Greenhouse and half acre Garden Center offer the areas finest quality plants and produce year round. The Bakery/Deli offers a wide variety of high quality bakery favorites, homemade salads, gourmet entrees, and Boars Head meats and cheeses. Elsies Creamery, the newest feature at Randalls boasts the finest homemade premium ice cream, made on the premises. In the Growing Greenhouses we produce geraniums and a wide variety of annual flowers, vegetable plants, and hanging plants. On the farm, strawberries are still raised, as well as pumpkins, hay, and straw. There are several events throughout the year, the most popular being our Annual Fall Festival with hayrides to the Pumpkin Patch and this years Third Annual Corn Maze. The store continues to grow with the help of various family members, many long-term employees and new faces as well. It is one of the largest employers in the community.
