Burlington Coat Factory was established in 1924 for the purpose of wholesale sales of ladies coats and junior suits. In 1972, the company opened its first outlet store in Burlington, N.J. Coats were the primary offering, but over time the concept evolved into a one-stop shopping experience. Extensive selections of mens and womens suits, sportswear, shoes and accessories developed followed by baby and youth departments. A linens department was added in 1987. Burlington Coat Factory, through strategic purchasing, has always been able to offer customers some of the latest in designer clothing, shoes, accessories, baby products and home furnishings. The company is a national department store retail chain that offers current, high-quality designer merchandise at prices up to 60 percent below those at other department stores. More than 350 stores can be found in nearly 45 states nationwide. Burlington Coat Factory maintains a location in Macedonia, Ohio.
