ION Media Networks, Inc owns and operates the largest U.S. broadcast television station group and ION Television, the countrys only independent broadcast television network. The Company owns 59 full-power broadcast television stations, including stations in each of the top 20 U.S. markets and 39 of the top 50. ION Media Networks is moving television forward in three dimensions: broadcasting, multicasting and datacasting. Completed digital broadcast facility upgrades allow the Company to provide a broadband platform using enhanced digital terrestrial spectrum capacity. In addition to delivering the main television network, this capacity is used to multicast multiple, new, over-the-air digital networks, as well as to datacast non-television content and information. In February 2007, ION Media Networks launched Open Mobile Ventures Corporation ( OMVION ), a business unit focused on the research and development of portable, mobile and out-of-home transmission technology using over-the-air digital television spectrum.
