The Childrens Medical Services Branch provides a comprehensive system of health care for children through preventive screening, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation services. Located in Sacramento, Calif., the branch operates various programs, such as child health and disability prevention, hearing conservation, medical therapy, newborn hearing screening, neonatal quality improvement initiative and pediatric palliative care programs. Its child health and disability prevention program offers a range of health assessment services, including screening tests for anemia, blood lead, tuberculosis, urine abnormalities and sexually transmitted diseases. The branch s newborn hearing screening program helps identify hearing loss in infants. The Childrens Medical Services Branch is a part of the California Department of Health Services.
