Formed in 1947 as the Cerebral Palsy Society of Rockland, today Jawonio provides community resources and opportunities for those with disabilities and special needs. This business provides service to more than 5,000 children and adults each year.

Founded in 1981, the South East Consortium for Special Services (SEC) is a non-profit, community-based organization whose mission is "to provide therapeutic recreation programs and leisure-related services to children and adults with disabilities and special needs residing in our member municipalities." Their offices are in the Mamaroneck Town Center on Boston Post Road.
The consortium serves the towns and villages of Mamaroneck, Scarsdale and Harrison, the towns of Eastchester and Pelham, the City of Rye, and the villages of Rye Brook, Port Chester, Larchmont, Bronxville and Tuckahoe.
Serving the community for the past since1994, Premier Health Care, YAI Network is a full-service medical clinic for the developmentally disabled. It also offers out-patient mental health services through on-staff licensed psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers.
The health center accepts Medicaid insurance and is affiliated with the Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
This service provides a free auditory collection for people who are blind, visually impaired, physically disabled or dyslexic. Available every other month, the anthology may be obtained online or through subscription. A four track-cassette player (supplied free of charge by either the magazine or through the Talking Books Program of the Library of Congress) is required to hear professionally recorded fiction, poetry and articles selected from over 100 contemporary magazines.
