Founded in 1885, the University of Arizona offers a range of educational programs to more than 35,000 undergraduate, graduate, professional and medical students. It is a member of the Association of American Universities. The university houses various anthropology museums, as well as libraries that maintain books, periodicals and research materials. The University of Arizona also offers a variety of sports programs, such as golf, snowball, tennis, volleyball, gymnastics, and track and field. It conducts classes in accounting, engineering, fine arts, anesthesiology, animal sciences, agricultural engineering, hydrology and water resources, and language, reading and culture. In addition, the university administers Africana studies and traveling scholar programs.
