People react to challenging times in different ways. After his grandfather was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, Dr. Saad decided to become a doctor and devote his life to treating cancer and saving lives. Dr. Saad thinks of himself as a coach for patients as they fight against the disease they’re battling. However, he views everyone involved as a team member, with the patient being the main player. “I love getting to know someone’s potential and values” Dr. Saad said. “Throughout the process, I learn what someone can and can’t do, what they would and wouldn’t do, and I get to see where they’re coming from, while holding their hands to reach their goals. Communication is key.” Dr. Saad stresses that any achievement is huge when you’re fighting against cancer, and he tries to celebrate these moments with patients. “It is time to live beyond cancer.” Outside of his time working with patients, you can often find Dr. Saad drawing, outdoors, playing soccer, or hiking.
