Dr. Tanya Nazemi is originally from Texas where she performed her undergraduate studies at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, followed by medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. At the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, she completed two years of general surgery and her urology residency in 2006. She completed a fellowship in Voiding Dysfunction and Pelvic Floor Reconstruction at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, in 2007.Before joining Swedish Urology Group, she worked on the east side for 8 years where she focused on providing excellent care to all her patients, many of whom struggle with female incontinence issues. Dr. Nazemi is certified by the American Board of Urology and subspecialty certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS).She is a member of the American Urological Association, the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology, the Society of Women in Urology, and the Washington State Medical Association. Dr. Nazemi was named a Top Doctor by Seattle Metropolitan Magazine in 2013 and 2015. Her interests include cooking, travel, and spending time with her husband and two boys.

Dr. J. Joy Lee grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, and attended Yale University, where she majored in History of Art while completing her pre-medical studies. After graduation, she took one year off to do community health and environmental volunteer work in Tamil Nadu, India. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern at Dallas, and completed her residency in Urology at Stanford University. Dr. Lee then moved to Seattle to do an advanced robotics fellowship with Dr. Jim Porter, and has joined Swedish Urology Group as its newest member. Dr. Lees clinical focus is minimally invasive urologic oncology, including da Vinci robotic surgery and focal therapy. As a resident, she received both regional and national awards for her research in prostate cancer outcomes and epidemiology, and has published numerous articles and chapters on urologic oncology and robotic surgery. She feels that open, honest communication is fundamental to the patient-doctor relationship, and hopes to empower her patients in a shared decision-making model of care.In her spare time, Dr. Lee and her husband have enjoyed exploring the Pacific Northwest and spending as much time outdoors as possible, whether crabbing or snowboarding or hiking. Both avid travelers and budding mountaineers, they have climbed Mt. Rainier, gone trekking in the Himalaya, and recently returned from a trip to the Alaska Range.
