St. Elizabeths is a nonprofit, acute care, Catholic community hospital that is licensed for 550 beds and 60 bassinets. As a member of Humility of Mary Health Partners, St. Es is able to offer medical/surgical, intensive, intermediate, maternity, neonatal intensive, pediatric and psychiatric inpatient care, as well as inpatient and outpatient surgery and 24-hour emergency services. It also serves as a regional referral center for high-risk maternity and cardiology and is the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the Mahoning Valley. Its teaching program includes residencies for post-graduate training of more than 70 physicians in general surgery, family medicine, internal medicine and general dentistry. It also sponsors a training program for nuclear medicine technologists and serves as a clinical experience site for student nurses and other health professionals. It employs approximately 3,000 staff members and has a medical staff of more than 600 physicians and dentists representing most medical specialties.

After graduating from Ohio State University, Dr. Gentile received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
