Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham (BID-Needham) serves as a satellite hospital for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. The Needham location provides outpatient and inpatient services, complete diagnostic facilities and a full-service emergency department. Primary care physicians and specialists are supported by the Chestnut Health Care Alliance.
Located in Weymouth, South Shore Hospital serves Braintree and other towns in the region. Along with an assortment of services such as an emergency room, nursing care, laboratories and rehab facilities, the hospital also has on-staff doctors dedicated to serving hospital patients, known as hospitalists. They are available on-site 24 hours a day. South Shore Hospital was founded in 1922 as Weymouth Hospital and today has a 280-bed acute care facility, provides hospice care and outpatient services. It is able to accommodate 4,800 births and 75,000 emergency room visits annually.
