Established in 1896, the Childrens Home Society of Washington is a full-service community mental health organization. It offers pre- and post-adoption counseling, search assistance and educational services to birth and adoptive parents. The organization also provides case management and supportive services, as well as parent training and children nurture programs. It offers the Foster Care Assessment Program, which is operated by the Department of Social and Health Services and Childrens Administration, as well as medical services in partnership with the Regional Medical Center. The Childrens Home Society of Washington provides legal, social and counseling services for children who suffer from sexual and physical abuse and emotional and psychological traumas. The Childrens Home Society of Washington maintains one of its facilities in Spokane Valley, Wash.

Welcome Families:St. Annes Children and Family Center (St. Annes), sponsored by Catholic Charities, is a unique place where parents and their children participate in an exceptional child development program. Everything at St. Annes fosters an atmosphere of mutual respect for children, parents, staff, volunteers, and students. Our philosophy is that children are capable and competent, and our environments are arranged so that children can freely access what they need to grow and learn. St. Annes currently is accredited through the Council on Accreditation and is in the process of acquiring National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) early childhood accreditation. St. Annes is open Monday-Friday from 7 am - 5:30 pm. Extended hour care available for medical professional 6:30 am - 7 am and 5:30 pm - 6 pm. Parents are the childs first and most important teachers and have valuable insights into how their child learns. We expect that parents will maintain an open dialogue with the childs teacher, since we will be depending upon parents to update us on their childs progress. We keep in communication with families about important events, concerns, or milestones reached at home. We also take the time to get to know our families and incorporate their backgrounds and culture into our program. We value our partnership with our families and see the parent as being the one who knows their child best. If you are interested in enrolling your child(ren) at St. Annes, please download and print out our enrollment forms, complete them, and return them to us at your convenience. Please be advised that families currently enrolled, families of Providence Health Care employees, and families of Catholic Charities programs have wait list priority. However, St. Annes will make every effort to accommodate all families on a timely basis, based on availability. St. Annes serves all children, regardless of faith or background.Childbirth Education/Preparation Classes: Class emphasis is to reach parents and to empower them to make positive decisions before, during, and after childbirth for their physical and emotional health and the health of their child(ren). Moms-to-be are welcome to attend alone or with the birth father and/or designated coach. Classes are free and begin every month. Call for specific dates and times. Support Groups: CAPA offers a variety of support groups to help parents and pregnant women cope with the stress of parenting. Please call for more information or to discuss which group may be helpful to you. "Bringing Up Baby" Parenting Education: Taught by a qualified instructor in an interactive group style, including art and games. These free classes are for pregnant women and parents with children ages newborn through 3 years. Call for specific dates and times.
