Calcot is a cooperative that markets its members raw cotton products to the worldwide textile industry. Each year it markets more than 1.3 million bales produced by nearly 1,500 member growers in California and Arizona, making it the United States second-largest exporter of cotton. The cooperative was established in 1927 by a small group of California growers and has headquarters in Bakersfield, Calif. Calcot s inventory of Upland and Pima cottons is culled primarily from California s San Joaquin Valley and is stored at three locations with nearly 150 warehouses combined.
