At East End Community Organic Farm, farmers, chefs and beekeepers lease land and then distribute their produce throughout the East End. There are more than 100 gardens for individuals, too, and 40 acres for farmers. A not-for-profit, the farm is run by a board of directors.
During the summer, Cornell-certified master gardeners conduct free workshops on organic gardening and seminars about sustainable agriculture and the environment. The farm also is involved in school gardens and nature-study programs.
There is a one-mile walking trail around the farm along the gardens, four-season hoop houses, the honey-bee yard, the orchard, a grassland conservation area and the two-acre compost operation.
The Iacono family has been raising chickens and roosters in East Hampton since the 1930s. The family sells fresh chickens and eggs out of a small house on their farm, where the chicken coops are also located. They also sell fresh ducks around the holidays.
Mahoney Farm and Nursery sells a wide variety of specimen trees and shrubs to landscapers, landscape architects, garden centers and amateur gardeners.
Located in East Hampton and also known as "Little Farm Stand," Spring Close Farms is a seasonal farm stand which offers fresh vegetables, fruit, baked goods, flowers, ostrich and chicken eggs, plants and more.
