Chino Valley Equine hospital was founded as a full service referral hospital in Chino, California in 1970. As the practice outgrew its facilities, we opened a new state of the art facility in 2007 on English Place in Chino Hills, serving the equine community around Los Angeles. We employ over 25 members of staff enabling us to provide full orthopedic, soft tissue, gastrointestinal and medicine consultations. We have multiple surgery suites for standing, general and orthopedic surgeries enabling us to perform arthroscopies, laparoscopies, thoracoscopies utilizing diode and carbon dioxide laser units. There is also a pool recovery system which is used for orthopedic cases. There are three main stabling areas, the intensive care unit, the main barn and the Isolation facility, allowing us to care for all eventualities, including foaling and neonatal care. We are affiliated with Western University School of Veterinary Medicine and provide education and training for students, in addition to offering externships and internships. We perform various diagnostics tests including upper airway endoscopy, gastroscopy, high speed treadmill evaluations, ultrasonography and digital radiography in several exam areas. We have an excellent in house laboratory enabling us to analyze blood samples and to culture and grow bacterial organisms. We are open 24/7 and provide care for a range of equine breeds and performance levels for both elective and emergency patients. We see approximately 1000 outpatients every year, 1100 are admitted as inpatients and over 900 surgeries are performed, of which approximately 200 are from emergency colic referrals.
