The Guidance Center, founded in 1958 and located in Southgate, Mich., is a behavioral health and human services organization working for the mental well being of children, adults and families in southeast Michigan. It offers a number of programs, such as early intervention services for infants, parenting skills, substance abuse and mental health counseling, literacy and juvenile justice. The organization serves more than 11,000 people each year. Its treatment involves individual, marital, family and group therapies, anger management therapy and special workshops. Its mental health services for adults is provided through treatment programs, such as psychiatry, day treatment, crisis intervention, nursing and case management services. The Guidance Center is a private, nonprofit agency, accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations.
