C.R.S.T. Telephone Authority, also known as the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Telephone Authority, is a privately owned telecommunications company. Established in 1958, it was the first Indian company to utilize the loan process from the Rural Electric Administration. The company has more than 1,800 miles of buried underground copper cable that offers continuous service during the harsh winter weather of the South Dakota plains. Its service area comprised of nearly 4,600 square miles, including 20 communities and over 3,400 subscribers. The company provides local and long-distance calling, call waiting and forwarding, sped dialing and caller identification services, as well as Internet and networking solutions. It also offers cable television services to more than 750 subscribers.
