Established by a constitutional amendment in 1904, the Courts of Appeal are Californias intermediate courts of review. It reviews final judgments of Superior Courts for prejudicial errors of law. The court has appellate jurisdiction when superior courts have original jurisdiction and in certain cases prescribed by statute, such as habeas corpus, mandamus, certiorari and prohibition proceedings.
