The mission of the Olathe Police Department, through partnership with the community, is to protect and serve all people within Olathe, Kan., with a professional, dedicated and well-trained organization. It is responsible for enforcing federal, state, county and local laws. The department responds to requests for service within the community. Olathe Police Department s community outreach/crime prevention services include support for programs such as McGruff House, National Night Out, Neighborhood Watch, Operation Lifeline and Operation Identification. The city s first record to establish a city police department is found in the city government minutes of April 7, 1870.
