PPL Electric Utilities, the electric-delivery business line of PPL Corporation, serves 1.3 million customers in Pennsylvania. The PPL Electric Utilities office, along with its parent s headquarters, is located in Allentown, Pa. It also has power plants and locations throughout Pennsylvania. PPL s other subsidiaries include PPL Generation, which controls approximately 12,000 megawatts of generating capacity in the United States through power plants Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Montana, New York and Pennsylvania; PPL EnergyPlus, the energy marketing arm of the company; and PPL Global, witch distributes power to more than 3.6 million customers in the United Kingdom and Latin America. In 2006, for the sixth year in a row, PPLs electric and natural gas utilities were ranked highest for customer satisfaction among the largest U.S. utility companies in a survey by the University of Michigans Ross School of Business.
