The Wequetequock Fire Station serves the town of Stonington as one of six volunteer fire departments. The volunteer force assists citizens in emergencies. In case of an emergency, dial 911. The Stonington Police Dispatch Center will then delegate emergency response to agencies such as the Wequetequock Fire Station.
The Mystic Fire Department serves the towns of Groton and Stonington and is one of six volunteer fire departments in Stonington. The Department has two fire stations: B. F. Hoxie Engine Co. located on Broadway Avenue in Mystic, and Mystic Hook and Ladder Co., located on New London Road in Mystic. The Fire Department is happy to speak with anyone interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter.
The Old Mystic Fire District covers the Old Mystic part of Groton, and offers mutual aid to other fire departments that may need help. The department is a combination of about five career firefighters and 25 to 30 volunteers. The department has three engines as well as a tower ladder truck and a truck with heavy rescue equipment. Ken Richards Jr. is chief of the district.
The first selectman's office is located on the first floor of the Old Lyme Town Hall.
The first selectman is the top elected official in the town, in charge of day-to-day operations.
