Hiawatha Fire and Rescue is a public safety agency that offers fire prevention and suppression services to the city of Hiawatha and the southern area of Monroe Township, Iowa. It also provides ambulatory, automobile extrication, severe weather observation, and hazardous material operations, basic technical rescue and natural disaster response services. The fire department also organizes a variety of fire and life safety education programs and classes to reduce the incidence of injury and fire. Hiawatha Fire and Rescue utilizes several lifeline emergency vehicles that are equipped to provide advanced life support to sick and injured patients. It supports the Explorer Program, which conducts training in firefighting, emergency medical services and ambulance apprentice.
