Madison Fire District was formed in 1973, and is located on the coast line of Lake Erie in Lake County, Ohio. The District serves the communities of Madison Township and Madison Village. The information available through the Lake County GIS shows the area represents over 43 square miles ( 38.49 square miles of Madison Township and the 4.98 square miles of Madison Village ). The population served, based on the 2000 census, is 2, 921 persons in Madison Village, and 16, 152 persons in Madison Township, totaling a combined 19, 073 residents. In addition to the area and population, the District serves and protects 1171 homes in Madison Village and 6427 homes in Madison Township The District has three stations, two in the township ( station three in south Madison is unmanned ) and one in the village and respond to between 2, 800 and 3, 000 calls annually. For the past few years, Madison Fire District has been the 4th busiest of the 16 fire departments in Lake County, falling behind the City of Mentor, the City of Willoughby the Painesville City Fire Departments Our firefighters provide a wide variety of services to the Madison community including fire suppression operations, emergency medical services, commercial fire inspection and public education. We continuously train to stay current with fire and EMS education. The department is under the leadership of Chief Gene Lutz and Madison Fire District Board, of which three members are from the Madison Township Board of Trustees and three members of the Madison Village Council.
