Established in 1926, the Cotuit Fire Department is run as a selectman style government separate from the town municipality. It serves 6.6 square miles within the village and provides a variety of services including water, response to spills, leaks, electrical problems and down wires, rescue services and accident response, well being checks, lockouts and lock ins and educational programming plus its firefighting duties.
Barnstable Fire Departments also provide emergency medical services at the advanced life support level.
In addition to these services, the Cotuit Fire Department also sponsors a kids day with the other four fire districts and the Barnstable police.
Plainville Fire Department is responsible for keeping the town safe from fires and fire hazards. It also provides fire investigations and public fire prevention education.
Provides fire suppression services and responds to medical aids, hazardous materials incidents, specialized technical rescue situations, fire prevention/inspection requests and disaster incidents.
