Brocks was founded by Maurice and Anne Brock in 1961. It all started innocently enough as the brainstorm of Maurice; his idea was to sell plywood in an old truck garage that was 575 square feet on a property next to his house. He eventually added 2 x 4s and nails and business began to boom. Maurices hard work, fair prices and quality service turned the business into a successful enterprise. In the early 60s Maurice constructed a new 55 x 60 building on Ten Rod Road; it was put up in the backyard of the homestead to store the additional building materials. The expansion was far from over. In 1968 a new office and showroom was constructed, again on Ten Rod Road, right next to the family home. By 1974, Maurice added a flooring showroom and warehouse. In order to do this it was necessary to tear down the family homestead. In addition, throughout the 1970s, two other warehouses were constructed on the property to house the lumber, millwork and roofing materials. In 1978 the Cocheco bottling Plant was purchased for additional storage as well as to be able to receive products shipped by railcar. Brocks continued to grow, and in 1984 a major addition was put onto the Cocheco Warehouse to store additional inventory. In 1988 the current 25,000 square foot showroom was constructed in the back of the property and Brocks changed their address from Ten Rod Road to 298 North Main Street. This location is currently home to over 50 employees. The former showroom on Ten Rod Road was remodeled into what is now their window and door shop. What started in a shed in their yard has now grown into a company with over 85,000 square feet of showroom and warehouse space. Following in his fathers footsteps, the 2nd generation, Scott Brock, who has been involved in Brocks since childhood, became owner and president of Brocks in 1998. Continued by the 3rd generation, Evan Brock, like his father, has been a fixture in the store since early childhood and in 2010 started his c...
