Herb's Earth Farm sells mulch and loam to the public, as well as directly to other businesses. This location is an office, call for service.
Clark Farms Garden Center is the Wakefield storefront of Clark Farms. Opened in 1992, it offers the same quality products sold at its Matunuck location, although it is not as expansive as its Matunuck Farm. "We're more fun here though," an anonymous staff member jokes. Needless to say, spunk is not lacking at either location.
Clark Farms Matunuck was founded in 1989, although the land it occupies has been farmland for quite some time now. Clark Farms is a full-service nursery that also sells some home-grown crops and has plenty of seasonal events. Its staff is certified in its field, knowledgeable and, best of all, quite friendly. At Clark Farms Matunuck, visitors will find hayrides and a corn maze in the fall, spring festivals and many other celebrations of seasonal joys.
Howard Johnson is the authorized John Deere dealer for the South County area. It has the full line of John Deere products for both consumer and commercial grades. This shop is also an authorized seller of Land Pride, Eager Beaver, Fisher Snowplows and Edge products. Other products include gardening equipment and snowplow repair equipment.
The Stewart Nursery was founded in 1988, and recently revamped its operations in 2006. Stewart Nursery sells plants, trees, and shrubs that are all propagated in-house. It even stocks plant species for wetland and coastal projects. The staff is prepared to provide advice for any gardener or farmer, and for any application.
A family-run business, All Outdoors carries outdoor power equipment for all four seasons. Its large, organized store off Route 1 offers lawnmowers, leaf blowers, snow blowers and more. All Outdoors also specializes in pest control, whether it be emergency, preventative or maintenance services.
Highland Farm has provided fresh, homegrown produce since its opening in 1941 by the Sumner family. The business remains in the family today, and is evergrowing. In 1995, Highland Farm opened an extensive garden center, filled with annuals, perennials and rose collections. The farm also has an on-site bakery that produces a variety of baked goods daily, and is particularly known for its assortment of pies. There are also a series of seasonal activities, including a haunted hay ride around Halloween called "Trails To Terror."
