The Blue Angels, based in Pensacola, Fla., is a team that is engaged in U.S. navy and marine corps recruiting efforts. The team works as models and goodwill ambassadors for the U.S. navy and marine corps. A Blue Angels flight demonstration exhibits skills possessed by naval aviators. It showcases the aerobatic maneuvers of the four-plane Diamond Formation with fast-paced maneuvers of its two solo pilots. The team also illustrates precision flying, performing maneuvers locked as a unit in the six-jet Delta Formation. Additionally, the squadron spends January through March training pilots and new team members at the Naval Air Facility El Centro in California. The squadron came into being in 1946.
