Based in Redwood City, Calif., San Mateo County governs the department of public works. The department plans, designs, constructs, operates and maintains facilities, as well as equipments that are safe and accessible to the clients of County agencies. It advises the Board of Supervisors on all public works issues, including rates and charges for services that are fair to both the users and service providers. The department consists of four divisions that include administrative services/ airports, engineering and resource protection, facility services and road services.
