About 530medialab 530medialab is a multimedia design and marketing agency established in 1999 by three primary partners: Bart Reitano, Kevin Dunn, and Erik Christensen. Born and raised in Southern California, we spent our teen years devouring every bit of pop culture we could get our hands on. We are the punk rock, skater kids that watched way too much T.V. We spent our days playing video games and our nights going to band gigs and getting tattooed. These obsessions were re-enforced by t-shirt designs, band logos and skateboard graphics. It was the icons within these subcultures that began our emersion into the world of graphic design. While working together as art directors in traditional print media we recognized that the advertising agencies providing ad materials did not fully understand the clients demographic, target market, or how to visually portray the true identity of the brand. We took this as an opportunity to convey what we knew of these industries and produce work that fit the market, which resulted in more recognition for the client. This experience gave us the opportunity to create our own agency and brand. 530medialab was born. The name 530 literally comes from the fact that we all worked full time jobs, and at 5: 30pm we started contracted projects. This resulted in many late nights, so it was only natural that our logo became an owl. Media Lab was chosen as an encapsulated buzz word referencing our interests in emerging technologies. The mantra of Work Now, Sleep Later was more than just a catchy tagline, it became our lifestyle. Work Now, Sleep Later is still just as relevent as the day Bart tattooed it on his wrists. Once our relationships with clients had been established we were able to direct them from traditional print media into developing visually consistent collateral across all mediums. Our approach to digital was unique in the fact that we came from a traditional background ; the result was developments that were visually unique, and technically progressive. 530medialab has evolved into a multimedia design and marketing agency with an instinct ability for creating genuine relationships between brands and their customers, both visually and verbally. Today, we are comprised of a group of like-minded individuals that prefer an environment that encourages creativity, freedom of expression, and is devoid of repetition and stagnation. Through solid planning and account support we guide an in-house team of creatives, developers, and programmers to achieve a product that is as hip, dynamic, and interesting as the brand and the end user.
