Jim Schmidt and Dave Goodman founded Hyacinth House in 1975, developing the companys motto of “Home of Quality Green Plants and Flowers.” Hyacinth House purchased VanPeenens Flower Shop in 1977, a retail store and greenhouses that opened in 1930. Today, the family-owned-and-operated company has 25 full-time employees and two divisions: wholesale, a green and blooming plant distributor; and retail, a full-service florist. Hyacinth House boasts 30,000-square-feet of greenhouse space that is packed year-round with quality blooming, green and seasonal plants.
